Robby Powers Joins Coastal Logistics Group, Inc. as the Business Development Manager

Coastal Logistics Group, Inc. (CLG) is proud to announce the addition of Robby Powers to its management team as the Business Development Manager. Powers' new role will include outside sales, business development, profitability and creating growth that enhances CLG's vision and values.

"Robby will be a great asset to our company and we are excited to have him on board. His 25 years of experience in our industry will be an invaluable resource to the company as we continue to provide solutions to our customers," said Chad Barrow, president of CLG.

Powers is a licensed custom broker with years of experience in the logistics industry. He worked in Atlanta and Charlotte, N.C. for Fritz Companies, which later become UPS Supply Chain Solutions.

"I have followed the growth of CLG for the past six years, and I am very excited to join a strong and well-respected company," said Powers.

Mark Banish Joins Coastal Logistics Group, Inc. as Chief Operating Officer

Mark BanishCoastal Logistics Group, Inc. (CLG) is proud to announce the addition of Mark Banish to its executive management team as the Chief Operating Officer.  Banish's new role will include responsibility for all aspects of CLG's operational policies, objectives and initiatives as well as maintaining financial goals.

Banish has over 24 years of experience in logistics, manufacturing and packaging.  Prior to joining CLG, Banish owned and managed PackLogix, LLC in Denver, NC.  He built his expertise in the field with hands-on experience while serving as president at Kontane Logistics for 13 years. Throughout his career, Banish has provided proven solutions to complex packaging, logistics and material handling challenges for a wide variety of industries.  These skills make him a true asset to CLG.

Groundbreaking Ceremony for Coastal Logistics Group, Inc. Marks Growth in the Local Logistics Industry

Coastal Logistics Group, Inc. (CLG) hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, May 6 for the construction of a new facility to expand the company.  The new building will allow CLG to offer a broader range of services to its customers. The new facility, expected to open its doors in the fall of 2010, is located in the CenterPoint Intermodal Center – Savannah (CIC-Savannah) located just four miles from the Savannah port.

Richard Barrow, CLG CEO and Chad Barrow, CLG President along with government and civic officials participated in a morning groundbreaking ceremony at the site to mark the official beginning of construction. The ceremony consisted of speeches from a Georgia Ports Authority representative, CenterPoint Properties executive and government officials.

"In the logistics arena, economic factors from around the globe affect how we approach our investment decisions, and we see those factors as both an incentive and an opportunity," said Chad Barrow.  The new facility will have direct rail access and will enable direct unloading of 10 railcars at a time, as well as bulk unload capability. 

"We are pleased to welcome Coastal Logistics to their new home at CIC-Savannah. Adding rail service to their logistics services in addition to locating adjacent to the NS Dillard Yard and the Port will provide their clients with significant transportation savings," said Brian McKiernan, Vice President at CenterPoint Properties. "We are confident that the transportation advantages achieved by locating within the park will grow significantly over time which will underscore the forward-thinking mentality they displayed in this decision."

The interior of the building will have state of the art energy efficient T5 fluorescent lighting, 5,600 square feet of office space and over 300,000 square feet of warehouse space with 32 feet minimum interior clearance height. The exterior of the building will have outside storage capacity, trailer parking, covered rail canopy, 43 dock doors and two oversized ramps. The facility expansion represents the company’s ongoing strategic commitment to providing comprehensive solutions.

Savannah Tech Foundation Recognizes "Community Stars"

Barrow is board president for Second Harvest Food Bank of Coastal Georgia. Second Harvest reclaimed 7.1 million pounds of surplus food from farmers, manufacturers and merchants last year, then distributed it to senior citizens, food pantries and other hunger relief agencies in 21 counties. The food bank runs other programs, including mobile pantries and Second Harvest’s Community Kitchen, which prepares 2,000 meals for children daily and serves as a training program that helps young people earn GEDs and Serve-Safe certifications.

Coastal Logistics Group, Inc. Acquires Additional 75,000 sq ft

Coastal Logistics Group, Inc. (CLG) has acquired an additional 75,000 square feet of warehouse space.  Two factors were in direct correlation requiring an increase in the current capacity. 

First, CLG required a larger area to accommodate the expanding growth of existing and potential customers.  CLG continues to see a rise in customer volumes and forecasts this trend to maintain in 2010.  Second, CLG was awarded a custom bond license by the U.S Customs and Border Protection.  This new status opens the door to a broader range of customer base.
