A Growing Need

The word “but,” though small, holds a lot of meaning. Chances are you have used that word a time or two when speaking of your past 3PL experiences as in, “they did an ok job but…” and within that “but” lies the problem. Sound familiar?

Those kinds of stories, dotted with disappointment, are the core reason why Coastal Logistics Group, Inc. (CLG) exists today. CLG was created out of a growing need in the Southeast logistics chain market. In the beginning, the concept for CLG was to serve as a logistics company, providing customers with quality port services such as loading containers, trans-loading cargo and building quality export crates and pallet skids.  There was very low overhead for the company and as a result, the savings were passed on to the customers.

"Diligence" became the key slogan for CLG, which was born out of a firm belief from the company’s father-and-son owners that if a constant and earnest effort were given to accomplish all work, they would be successful.

As it turns out, they were right. Immediate success of CLG's quality work and value in the logistics community gave the company an opportunity to expand its services by launching the projects division and an on-site packing/crating division.  As growth continued for the 3rd party logistics company, the owners placed increasing importance on consistently producing quality work and developed rigorous standard operating procedures in all divisions to ensure this was achieved.  Those procedures began to breed a culture of operational excellence among employees and attracted increasing attention from the industry's best people.

New personnel brought fresh ideas and soon CLG started to embrace technology and advanced business strategies. CLG used this wealth of knowledge to expand its technological capabilities and also established a solutions development team.  This new team drives CLG to identify a customer's pain points, requirements and goals, allowing them to develop customized solutions to address specific needs.

CLG continues to grow its services in 2010 with the award of a customs bond and additional warehouse space.  We are committed to our customers and are honored to work with them side-by-side, making recommendations that foster growth while offering innovative solutions to their supply chain. Whatever the future holds, excellence in all things will continue to be at the heart of all CLG operations – no buts about it.
